DESIGN: An Outlook of Generation

From very long time, early in 500BC “DESIGN” came into existence. Many designers like Fen Shui, Fredick Winslow Taylor, Henry Dreyfuss and many others explained very well about design. The importance, the principles , the art of design are very well explained by designers. Many evolutions happened and are happening in design.
Recently, I read the book ‘THE DESIGN OF EVERYDAY THINGS’ by ‘Don Norman’ and ‘Design as Art’ by ‘Bruno Munari’ which completely change my perception towards design. And Yes, from then onwards, they are amongst my favorite designers. In their books, they very well told us about product design that includes both (physical and digital) design, visual design, graphic design, interaction design, and other design as well.
Keeping their perspective in mind, I would like to add, “Design” is something which is useful, long lasting, easy to use etc. and from that knowledge I think, design may change from person to person. Their evaluation criteria changes from user needs.
So can we distinguish DESIGN as GOOD or BAD..??
Design cannot be GOOD or BAD.
But according to my perception, I tried to explain Good and Bad design.
l. The diyas, which we are using during festive seasons and in our day to day lives, so well design that we are using from our grandparents age till now and will use life long. Though the shape of the product is change but, the purpose will not change. The product is so useful and eco-friendly which full fills ones needs and yes, its a Good design.
2. PENCIL, is so well design that from child of nursery class till the grand paa of that child use the same product. Its the long lasting and used by all product. So yes, the design of Pencil is Good design.
3. The Plug and Switch, is so well designed that from long times we are using the same product. It is useful product and yes, its Good design.
4.The Hanger, is so well design that we are using it from long time. The updated design is good than the old. But yes, its a very useful product which we are using and its Good design.
5.The Umbrella, which we are using from long time is the Good design product. And the creative elements added to it for kids make the product long lasting even though, the creative ideas for that has changed.
6. Its the visually appealing product so yes, its good product. Others can have different perspective for this product.
7.The visual design of Remote unable to understand user easily. So accordingly its a Bad design.

In this product, as we can see , the process of charging the Power Bank is going on. But, as soon as the Power Bank get charged, there should be a feature that indicates whether the process of charging is fully completed so that, user can off the switch or there should be auto stop process of charging, to stop the over charging of product and thus, we can save the product. and yes, its a Bad design.
